Light in Cake: A Faith-Driven Movement Transforming Lives

Light in Cake is more than a bakery—it’s a faith-driven movement dedicated to restoring dignity through employment, spreading hope through the Gospel, and transforming lives. Every purchase, prayer, and partnership fuels a greater mission: building a world that honours the inherent dignity of every person—where those experiencing homelessness and refugees are not only seen but welcomed into the heart of society.

✨ Our Upcoming Project: The Light in Cake Training Programme

We’re preparing to launch our pilot Light in Cake Training Programme, aimed at empowering homeless individuals and refugees by providing:

  • Training in baking, barista, and food service roles
  • Food Hygiene Certification to ensure skills are industry-recognized
  • Social work support and pastoral care (if desired)
  • Confidence-building and work readiness for long-term employment

All while building Light in Cake together—with them and for them. During the programme, participants will:

  • Test and refine our final menu, contributing their unique insights to perfect our recipes.
  • Sell our creations to corporate clients, gathering invaluable feedback to help us improve and grow.
  • Provide essential feedback to ensure Light in Cake is shaped to best serve them and the wider community.

This pilot is the first step towards opening a bakery-coffee shop run by those we serve—homeless individuals and refugees—offering a space of purpose, belonging, and hope.

🌱 How You Can Contribute

  • Kitchen Space: Know of any free or affordable kitchen spaces where we can host our training? Please get in touch.
  • Funding: Grants to cover essential resources, ingredients, participant compensation, and the programme's running costs.
  • Volunteers: We need passionate volunteers to help run the programme and support participants throughout their journey.

This includes professionals:

  • Bakers and food service experts to train participants
  • Social workers and chaplains to support the participants' emotional and social needs

  • Food photographers to capture the beauty of our products
  • Marketing managers to help spread the word
